So we all know Mike and I have been broke as a joke in 2015. We blew all our future money on a wedding (thank you credit cards), so there is nothing left for fun stuff. But 2016 is going to be our year people!
There’s just a few things I’ve been wanting for like… the last 5-10 years and 2016 is going to be the year I buy all of it! Of course, I’m not going to let this majorly affect our debt pay-off plan, but you have to reward yourself when you hit milestones and these items are things that will be of use to me for years to come.
I have wanted an awesome pair of rain boots since 2006. Yes. Ten years I have wanted these and never bought a pair. Well 2016 will be the year I splurge on the cutest pair of boots ever – you know – the tall ones you can wear with a trench coat and leggings! I’m thinking one of these:
An Oversized Sweater or Two
I have wanted oversized sweaters ever since college. The sad thing is they can be super expensive. However, I’m going to take a leap and buy me one or two for Fall 2016 for the best cuddle sessions ever. Leggings – CHECK. Heavy socks – CHECK. Massive sweater – CHECK. Like these:
A Sturdy Pair of Jeans
I do not like to spend money on jeans (or clothes in general), and I wear them for years and years and years. It’s safe to say I have jeans that I bought for 10 dollars at Target back in 2011. Yes. So, I’m going to finally spend a little money and buy me some jeans from Lucky or something. I don’t know. Something of quality and better fit. What do you think?
A Long, Heavy Winter Coat
I hate the cold, and every coat I’ve ever had has only gone down to a little below the waist. You know – the peacoat types. If we get stationed anywhere even slightly winterish, I am investing in a super long, down-to-my-ankles coat that is cozy and warm. I’ve been telling Mike this for years, yet I’ve never felt good about doing it. Still, the last coat I had lasted 4 years and is now probably keeping another sweet person warm because I donated it. I take good care of my stuff, so I know this coat will be something that last for decades. It definitely needs to be something like this:
A Large Area Rug
I love rugs. I think they pull a room together and give character to a space. This is something Mike and I will buy together, but I definitely want to pull our funds and buy a huge rug for our new home, wherever and whatever that may be.
These are the things I am going to allow myself to buy in 2016. I won’t regret them and I’ll never look back. I want to purchase high-quality, well-made goods that will last a long time. These will be my first steps in the right direction.
If you have any suggestions on great places to buy quality stuff, do let me know! I truly have no idea where to purchase these kinds of things! And please don’t say THE NORTH FACE…
